Bodhi Dzi Mala Beads This mala is made from Bodhi seed beads and Dzi bead style beads, hand-strung on durable cord. Bodhi seeds are pale cream-colored discs with the characteristic wrinkled surface texture of Bodhi seed material. Dzi bead style beads are elongated barrel shapes with traditional pattern etching. A guru bead and silk tassel or braided cord finish the strand. Materials: Bodhi seeds: Natural Bodhi seed, cut and polished into disc-shaped beads; pale cream to tan; wrinkled surface texture Dzi-style beads: Traditional Tibetan-style Dzi bead form; elongated barrel shape with etched patterns Cord: Durable braided cord; ends finished with silk tassel or braided cord Guru bead: Single larger bead at the mala terminus Use: The beads are used for counting during mantra recitation or meditation practice. The standard count is 108 beads; the guru bead marks the starting and ending point. Use and Handling: Remove before water, perfumes, or harsh chemicals Wipe with a dry cloth after use Store in a jewelry pouch or mala bag when not in use Note: Natural Bodhi seeds vary in surface texture and color.
